Chino Police DUI Checkpoint Results in Impaired Driving Arrest and 21 Citations

CHINO, CA — On July 10, 2026, the Chino Police Department conducted a driving under the influence (DUI) and driver’s license checkpoint in the southbound lanes of the 11600 block of Central Avenue. The operational detail ran from 6:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. the following morning.

During the operational period, law enforcement personnel contacted 1,703 vehicles passing through the checkpoint. The detail resulted in one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Additionally, one individual was taken into custody on separate, non-DUI criminal charges.

Officers also issued citations to 21 drivers for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license or with a suspended or revoked license.

Department officials noted that checkpoint locations are selected based on historical crash data related to impaired driving incidents, with the primary objective of reducing traffic collisions and promoting public safety. Funding for the enforcement operation was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The department plans to hold its next scheduled DUI checkpoint on August 28, 2026.
