Four Porterville Suspects Apprehended Following Multi-Jurisdictional Carjacking and Armed Robbery Crime Spree
PORTERVILLE, CA — Four Porterville residents, including two minors, have been taken into custody following a series of armed robberies and a carjacking spanning multiple cities in the Central Valley.
The incident began on May 20, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., when Porterville Police officers responded to a report of a carjacking and armed robbery in the sub-100 block of N. Salisbury Street. A female victim reported that multiple masked individuals armed with firearms forcibly removed her from her vehicle before driving away.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives determined that the suspects committed subsequent armed robberies in both Visalia and Lemoore.
Hanford Police officers later located the stolen vehicle. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspects fled, resulting in a vehicle crash. The occupants then attempted to flee on foot. Hanford authorities immediately apprehended three individuals, identified as 18-year-old Michael Ortiz, 20-year-old Esteban Santana Baeza, and a juvenile. One outstanding juvenile suspect initially evaded arrest.
Porterville detectives collaborated with the Visalia and Lemoore police departments to review cross-jurisdictional evidence, securing search and arrest warrants. Through this joint effort, investigators identified the remaining juvenile suspect, who was subsequently located and arrested in Porterville.
Search warrants executed during the investigation recovered evidence linking all four suspects to the crimes across the various cities. Investigators also determined that the suspects are associated with a criminal street gang.
All four individuals have been booked into local jail and juvenile holding facilities. The investigation remains active, and the Porterville Police Department asks anyone with relevant information to contact them at (559) 782-7400.
