Visalia Father Arrested on Child Endangerment Allegations Following Dirt Bike Accident

VISALIA, CA — A local father has been arrested on multiple criminal charges after losing control of a motorcycle, resulting in an accident that injured his young passenger.

Visalia Police Department officers responded to the intersection of South Watson Street and West Reese Avenue at approximately 4:21 p.m. following reports of a motorcycle crash involving a child.

During the subsequent roadside investigation, officers determined that an adult male was operating an off-road dirt bike with his child positioned in front of him on the vehicle. While traveling through the area, the father lost control of the motorcycle, causing the vehicle to slide and throwing both riders onto the roadway surface.

Investigators noted that the child was not equipped with a protective helmet at the time of the impact. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the juvenile at the scene before transporting them to Kaweah Health Medical Center as a precautionary measure. The father did not report any major injuries.

Following the preliminary investigation, officers arrested and charged the father with child endangerment and reckless driving.

The Visalia Police Department issued a regional safety reminder noting a statewide increase in serious and fatal collisions involving dirt bikes, conventional motorcycles, and high-powered electronic bicycles operated by children and adolescents. Law enforcement personnel emphasized that parents must enforce helmet compliance and safety regulations, as even low-speed crashes can result in severe or life-threatening trauma.
