Search Warrant Leads to Recovery of Stolen Generator and Vehicles; One Arrested
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA – A 45-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident was arrested on multiple felony charges following a theft investigation that resulted in the recovery of more than $20,000 in stolen property, multiple vehicles, and a firearm.
The investigation began on May 1, 2026, when Desert Hot Springs Police officers responded to a local business regarding the theft of a commercial diesel generator and its attached trailer, which had been taken during the early morning hours. Patrol officers identified a suspect vehicle utilized in the theft and subsequently located it at a property on the 13000 block of Little Morongo Road.
Desert Hot Springs Police detectives assumed control of the case and executed a search warrant at the Little Morongo Road property. During the search, investigators recovered the stolen commercial generator, four stolen vehicles, stolen tools, and a stolen commercial air conditioning unit. Officers also discovered and seized a firearm, ammunition, and an unspecified quantity of narcotics at the scene.
The operation was conducted with assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter and K-9 units, the Riverside County Auto Theft Interdiction Detail, the Palm Springs Police Department Real-Time Intelligence Center, and the Palm Springs Police Department K-9 unit.
The suspect, identified as William Moore, was located in Palm Springs and taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop. Moore was subsequently transported and booked into the county jail.
