ROHNERT PARK, CA — “On March 28, 2026, at approximately 8:44 a.m., officers from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety responded to a 911 call reporting an individual on the roof of a residence armed with a firearm.
The suspect, identified as Tiwart Bachir Kyorkian, was observed standing on the roof with a shotgun, allegedly pointing it toward individuals and yelling profanities, including racial remarks, at people working in the backyard of a neighboring residence.
Officers responded promptly and were able to safely take Kyorkian into custody without further incident. Due to the nature of the incident, officers served Kyorkian with a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO), issued by a Sonoma County Superior Court magistrate, which requires the surrender of all firearms to law enforcement pending a scheduled hearing. Kyorkian refused to comply with the order.
Kyorkian was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:
• California Penal Code § 245(a)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• California Penal Code § 422.6(a) – Violation of Civil Rights (Hate Crime)
• California Penal Code § 166(a)(4) – Disobeying a Court Order
Kyorkian’s refused to comply with the court order, therefore detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the service of the warrant, multiple firearms and various calibers of ammunition were located and seized.
As of a result of the search warrant obtained by the detectives, Kyorkian was charged with the additional following charges:
• California Penal Code § 30605 – Possession of an assault weapon
• California Penal Code § 32310 – Possession of large capacity magazines
• California Penal Code § 33215 – Possession of a short-barreled rifle
On April 1, 2026, during a follow-up investigation, Rohnert Park detectives, accompanied by the Sonoma County Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, searched the residence and confirmed that no explosive devices or materials used in the construction of explosive devices were found.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact Sergeant Quinn at 707-584-2612.”
