Colton Man Arrested Following Interstate 10 Shooting Incident

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA  — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Bernardino area units responded to reports of a shooting incident on eastbound Interstate 10, west of Mt. Vernon Avenue, on March 15, 2026. According to 12-lead dispatch records, the incident occurred at approximately 5:13 P.M.

The victim, a 33-year-old female resident of San Bernardino, was traveling with her 6-year-old child when a suspect fired several shots at her vehicle. The victim stated she was unaware of a motive for the shooting. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. During the initial investigation, the victim provided law enforcement with a description of the suspect driver and a California license plate number.

With the assistance of the CHP Inland Division Warrant Service Team, authorities located the suspect and the vehicle involved. On March 18, 2026, the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old male resident of Colton, California, was taken into custody. Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, officers recovered a loaded firearm and spent shell casings.

The California Highway Patrol cited the incident as an example of the risks associated with highway violence.
