Oakland Resident Arrested Following Fatal Shooting in Tenderloin District
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – On February 11, 2026, at approximately 8:55 a.m., officers from the San Francisco Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Turk Street within the Tenderloin District. Upon arrival, emergency responders located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers on the scene initiated medical aid, which included performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Paramedics subsequently arrived to continue lifesaving measures; however, the victim was declared deceased at the scene. Following the fatality, the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail arrived to take over the investigation.
During the course of the scene investigation, officers located and detained a person of interest. Investigators subsequently developed probable cause to arrest 37-year-old Sefanaia Alatini of Oakland. Alatini was transported to the San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on several charges. According to department records, these charges include murder under 187(a) PC, being a felon in possession of a firearm under 29800(a)(1) PC, and being a felon in possession of ammunition under 30305(a)(1) PC.
While the San Francisco Police Department has made an arrest in connection with case number 260-082-985, officials stated that the investigation remains open and active.
