PORTERVILLE, CA – In December 2025, officers with the Porterville Police Department initiated an investigation following reports of a sexual relationship between an adult male and a juvenile female victim. Investigators identified the suspect as 23-year-old Daniel Matthew Rodriguez, a resident of Porterville. The investigation, which was later assumed by department detectives, determined that the initial contact between the two parties occurred over social media.
As the inquiry progressed, detectives obtained and executed several search warrants for social media accounts registered to Rodriguez. The findings indicated that Rodriguez had been communicating with multiple female juveniles. According to department officials, the evidence showed that Rodriguez sent sexually explicit images and engaged in sexual communications with the victims in an effort to arrange in-person meetings.
On February 5, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of North Maurer Street. Rodriguez was located at the scene and taken into custody. He was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility on several felony charges, including possession of child sexual abuse material, unlawful sex with a minor, and communication with a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.
Rodriguez is currently being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. The Porterville Police Department Investigations Division stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information relevant to the case to contact them at (559) 782-7400 or via the department’s official social media pages.
