Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics and Weapons Seizure; Two Arrested
CARLSBAD, CA — An investigation conducted by Officer Leyva with the Carlsbad Police Department recently resulted in the arrest of two individuals following a traffic stop initiated after a driver reportedly failed to stop for a red light. During the initial contact, the driver informed the officer of a prior arrest record, while the passenger disclosed the existence of an active warrant.
Law enforcement personnel performed a records check, which confirmed that the driver was currently on probation and verified the passenger’s outstanding warrant. Based on these findings, a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, officers located and seized a variety of items, including suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, the search uncovered a knife, two expandable batons, and an airsoft rifle designed to appear realistic and capable of discharging rubber pellets.
The driver was taken into custody and booked into jail on several drug-related charges. The passenger was also arrested and booked into the local facility for possession of a controlled substance in addition to the existing outstanding warrant. No further details regarding the specific types of narcotics or the jurisdiction of the passenger’s warrant were included in the incident report.
