Murrieta Police Arrest Suspect Following Assault With a Deadly Weapon
MURRIETA, CA — December 18th 2025 — The Murrieta Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with an assault involving a deadly weapon that occurred earlier this week. The incident began on the evening of December 15, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., when dispatchers received a 911 call from a residence on Old Carriage Road. A male individual had arrived at the home seeking assistance, reporting that he had been stabbed.
Responding officers arrived at the scene, but were unable to locate a suspect at that time. The victim, identified as a 44-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. An investigation conducted by the Murrieta Police Department’s Detective Bureau determined that the victim and the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Eric Hill, were involved in an altercation on Whitewood Road near Rockcrest Drive. According to investigators, both individuals are unhoused and were known to reside in a Temecula encampment.
During the physical dispute, the victim was stabbed once in the shoulder. He subsequently fled the location, scaled a fence, and sought aid from the residents on Old Carriage Road. Following the investigation, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department located and detained Hill on December 18, 2025, at approximately 2:09 p.m.
Murrieta detectives took custody of Hill and booked him into the Cois Byrd Detention Center. He faces charges under California Penal Code section 245(a)(1) for assault with a deadly weapon.
