Traffic Stop in Santa Cruz Leads to Felony Arrest on Drug, Weapon Charges
SANTA, CRUZ, CA — November 28th 2025 — Early yesterday morning, a routine traffic stop conducted by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old Santa Cruz resident.
The initial stop was initiated due to a vehicle code violation. During the subsequent interaction, the CHP officer located items that led to the driver’s arrest. The individual was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, along with weighing scales, a pair of brass knuckles, and a baton.
The 32-year-old male driver, whose name has not been released at this time, was taken into custody and booked into a jail facility on multiple felony charges.
The CHP noted that the arrest occurred while the department’s Holiday Enforcement Period (HEP) is in effect. During this period, all available CHP officers are deployed to increase visibility and patrol activities to promote public safety on California roadways and within communities. The CHP stated that the deployment is intended to help keep the roads and the community safe throughout the weekend.
