Community Assistance Leads to Arrest in Fatal Porterville Hit-and-Run
PORTERVILLE, CA — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Porterville Area office has confirmed the arrest of a driver in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on November 15, 2025. The CHP credited information provided by the Porterville community as instrumental in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
The incident was reported to the CHP Fresno Communications Center at approximately 6:07 p.m. on November 15. The collision took place on E. Date Avenue, west of S. Park Street.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 53-year-old female resident of Porterville, CA, was walking eastbound on E. Date Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 51-year-old male from Porterville, CA, was operating a 2005 Honda Accord and was also traveling eastbound at the time of the collision.
Following the impact, the driver of the Honda fled the scene, continuing eastbound on E. Date Avenue. The pedestrian sustained injuries from the crash and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
CHP officers conducted an investigation that involved pursuing multiple leads, extensive follow-up work, and canvassing the area. This effort resulted in the arrest of the 51-year-old male on November 20, 2025. The individual was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Tulare County Detention Facility.
