Mendocino County Authorities Arrest Man on Firearm- and Drug-Related Charges
WESTPORT, CA — Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly arrested a Westport man on Sunday, Nov. 9, in connection with multiple firearm and drug-related offenses.
According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, deputies assigned to the Coastal Patrol Sector were on the 23800 block of DeHaven Creek Road at around 9:40 p.m. attempting to locate Jeremy Jones, 50, who had a felony arrest warrant for a prior violation of alleged possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and alleged negligent discharge of a firearm.
Deputies reportedly located Jones’s vehicle parked in front of a residence and confirmed he was inside. He was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies also determined Jones lived at the residence and was on active felony probation from Humboldt County for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. A probation search of the home led to the discovery of a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle, ammunition, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jones was arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for the active felony warrant.
He was booked into the Mendocino County Jail and held on $65,000 bail, authorities said.
