Visalia Police Arrest Teen in Yogurtland Robbery; Older Brother Cited for DUI
VISALIA, CA — September 21st 2025 — Officers with the Visalia Police Department responded late last night to a robbery in progress at a business in the Visalia Mall. At approximately 11:19 p.m., dispatch received reports that two male suspects were inside Yogurtland taking money from the register. Witnesses stated that one of the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
Arriving officers quickly located the vehicle and detained the driver, identified as Arturo Calderon. While officers continued searching the surrounding area, they found a 16-year-old male near Harbor Freight. The juvenile attempted to run but was taken into custody shortly after. According to police, $985 in cash was recovered from the juvenile and later returned to the business.
Investigators determined that the 16-year-old had taken the money from the register while reaching into his waistband, which led employees to believe he may have been armed. Police also learned that Calderon, who is the juvenile’s older brother, had attempted to stop the robbery. While he was not implicated in the theft itself, Calderon was arrested and cited for driving under the influence.
The 16-year-old suspect was arrested and booked on charges of robbery and resisting arrest. Police reported that no weapons were found during the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
