DUI Collision in Madera County Kills One, Injures Two Others; Oakhurst Woman to Face Charges

COARSEGOLD, CA  — “On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at approximately 7:37 p.m., CHP Madera Officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles, on SR-41, north of Road 406.

A preliminary investigation indicates:

A 30-year-old woman from Oakhurst, CA was driving a black Honda Accord, northbound on SR-41, approaching Road 406. A 63-year-old woman from Fresno, CA was driving a white Ford Escape, southbound on SR-41, approaching Road 406. As the two vehicles approached each other, the Honda veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the Ford. Both vehicles sustained major damage and came to rest blocking the roadway. Despite life saving measures by good Samaritans and medical personnel, the right front passenger in the Ford (87-year-old woman from Fresno, CA), was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center – Fresno with major injuries. All parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Witnesses reported the driver of the Honda driving recklessly and had passed several vehicles over double yellow lines moments before the crash.

The driver of the Honda was suspected to be driving under the influence and placed under arrest for Felony DUI, and additional charges. She remains at the hospital and in custody. The driver will be booked at the Madera County Jail, upon being medically cleared.”
