SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA  — “Just after 11:30 PM last night (August 6, 2025), Central Division Patrol Deputies responded to an apartment complex on the 5600 block of Florin Road in South Sacramento to the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located an 11-year-old victim who was shot in the leg and began to render aid. The child was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is expected to survive.

The suspected shooter, 25-year-old Roberto Rangel, a resident at that apartment complex, was detained without incident. Deputies learned that Rangel had been drinking and was involved in several arguments with his neighbors throughout the day.

After further investigation, Rangel was formally arrested and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains ineligible for bail.”
