Motorist Driving with Headlights Off at Midnight Draws Attention; Two Arrested on Drug Charges

OROVILLE, CA — Two individuals were arrested during a traffic stop after the driver was allegedly found to be driving on a suspended license with drugs in the vehicle.

According to a press release by the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 2, noticed a black Ford Ranger leaving the Chevron station on 3rd Street with its lights off. The deputy also ran the vehicle’s plates and discovered its registration was expired.

The deputy pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the driver, identified as 45-year-old Terry Greer of Oroville, whose license turned out to be suspended, the Sheriff’s Office said.

During the stop, deputies reportedly discovered around 142 grams of suspected methamphetamine, well in excess of amounts typically associated with personal use, as well as packing materials.

Greer was arrested on suspicion of felony transportation and possession of a controlled substance for sale. His passenger, identified as 45-year-old Lisa Waits, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Both were booked at the Butte County jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
