Oakland man Arrested for $1 Million Jewelry Heist

Several More Suspects Still at Large

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, Central Division Patrol Deputies responded to a robbery at a jewelry store near Stockton Boulevard and Orange Avenue in South Sacramento.

Deputies learned that approximately eight suspects arrived at the location in two separate vehicles.

One of the suspects pepper-sprayed a security guard as they were entering the store while a security guard controlled the door, which was being held open by a ninth suspect.

Multiple customers and employees were inside the store at the time of the robbery. Two of the suspects used blunt objects to smash display cases and ransack the store. The suspects gathered large amounts of jewelry totaling approximately $1 million and fled the area.

Robbery detectives identified the primary suspect as 30-year-old Leo Smith from Oakland. Detectives located and arrested Smith in Hayward.

He had a loaded firearm in his vehicle and was subsequently charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

This is still an active investigation, as Sheriff’s Robbery Detectives are still working to identify other suspects who were involved.
