Kern County Authorities Arrest Felony Warrant Suspect

“On January 16, 2025, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Gang Suppression Unit, with the assistance from the Air Support Unit and North Area Substation Patrol Deputies, responded to the 25700 block of Riverside Street in an attempt to locate felony warrant suspect Joe Garnica (40 years old).

Deputies attempted to arrest Joe Garnica, but he fled into his residence and barricaded. Deputies were able to negotiate with Joe Garnica, who surrendered peacefully after approximately 20 minutes. Deputies also located Joe’s brother, Alonzo Garnica (33 years old), inside the residence.

Deputies conducted a search of the residence and located two loaded handguns. Both Joe Garnica and Alonzo Garnica were arrested for the following charges: felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, participation in a criminal street gang, conspiracy and resisting arrest.  Joe and Alonzo were booked at the Lerdo Jail facility.”
