Man Arrested in Connection with Armed Robbery at Subway

A Delano man was recently arrested in connection with the alleged armed robbery of a local restaurant.

According to a press release by the Delano Police Department, officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Subway located on Glenwood Street shortly after 9 PM on Tuesday, December 19. An armed suspect had reportedly entered the establishment and later fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Upon arrival, officers gathered a detailed physical and clothing description of the suspect. An officer later located an individual matching the suspect’s description in a nearby parking lot. This individual, identified as 34-year-old Ernesto Duenas Rodriguez of Delano, was detained for further investigation.

The Delano Police Department’s Investigations Division assumed control of the case. Several pieces of evidence were reportedly discovered in the vicinity of the Subway restaurant. Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Kern County jail on suspicion of robbery.

The investigation is ongoing. It was unclear at press time whether Rodriguez had retained an attorney.
