Authorities in Sonoma County have opened an investigation into an alleged shooting on Dutton Avenue in Santa Rosa last week, which police say may have been a targeted incident.

According to a press release by the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunshots on the 600 block of Dutton Avenue on the evening of Monday, June 5. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Ford Mustang with shattered front windows. No suspects or victims were found at the scene, but several shell casings were located near the vehicle, police said.

The SRPD Violent Crime Team then took charge of the investigation, with assistance from Field & Evidence Technicians who processed the crime scene. Detectives learned that the victims, accompanied by family members, had been driven to a nearby hospital. It was determined that only one person sustained injuries during the shooting.

The injured victim, identified a 19-year-old woman, received medical treatment at a local hospital and has since been released. Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, no further details regarding the victim will be disclosed.
