Moments later, however, the other resident, identified as 26-year-old Dakota Reel of Mariposa, exited the apartment and allowed himself to be taken into custody. He was identified as the primary suspect in the stabbing. Several children were also present in the apartment at the time of the arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Several children were also found inside the apartment where the incident occurred. The victim was flown to an area hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. No other details about the victim have been released.
Reel is currently being held at the Mariposa County Jail with a bail of $500,000 on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Garza has been booked and released on charges of resisting arrest. It was unclear at press time whether either of them had retained an attorney.
