LSU Star Receiver Malik Nabers Arrested on Weapon Charge

LSU’s top-performing wide receiver, Malik Nabers, was arrested in Louisiana for illegal carrying of a weapon, according to TMZ Sports. The 19-year-old athlete, who caught 72 passes in 14 games for the Tigers last season, was taken into custody by the New Orleans Police Department on Monday, as per authorities. Nabers was later released on Tuesday, according to police records.

NOLA.com reported that the police initially stopped Nabers on Bourbon Street after noticing an “L-shaped object” in his pocket. ESPN’s spokesperson for LSU said that the university is still receiving information regarding the case, but the Tigers’ head coach, Brian Kelly, is aware of the arrest.

Nabers played as a true freshman in 2021 and excelled as a sophomore, logging 1,017 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Nabers led the team in both catches and yards and is expected to be one of the team’s best players in 2023. The 6-foot, 195-pound wide receiver was a four-star recruit out of high school.
