Man arrested for alleged possession of stolen vehicle

“On June 5, 2022, at about 7:30 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the area of the Herrick Avenue turnout observed a pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Fortuna.

Deputies confirmed the vehicle to be stolen and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Tooby Road, near Humboldt Hill. Deputies contacted and detained two individuals. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a stolen chainsaw.

The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Jesse Curtis Hiller, was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle (PC496d(a)) and possession of stolen property (PC 496(a)), in addition to warrant charges of violation of probation.

The passenger of the vehicle was released at the scene.
