Shooting suspect arrested in Beaumont

“On Sunday, February 20, 2022, at approximately 4:09 p.m., the Beaumont Police Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of East 6th Street in reference to the sound of gunshots in the area.

The caller reported a loud “POP” and then heard a male screaming. The caller ran outside and located an adult male, who had been shot and was asking for help. Officers arrived on scene and located the male subject who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers attempted to get information from the victim, however, he was uncooperative with law enforcement. CalFire arrived and AMR transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment. The injury was not life-threatening.

Detectives from the Beaumont Police Department responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates an altercation may have occurred prior to the incident. This investigation is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone who may have information about this case to contact Detective Sergeant Macias at 951-769-8500. Information can also be reported anonymously at crimetips@beaumontpd.org.

On February 23, 2022, Detectives from the Beaumont Police Department made an arrest in the shooting investigation from over the weekend (see original release below). Further investigation led detectives to identify, Irvin Gutierrez, age 33, of Beaumont, as a suspect in the shooting which injured one person.

Officers arrested Gutierrez at his work place in the City of Perris without incident and served search warrants on Gutierrez’ home and vehicle to collect evidence related to the case. Gutierrez was transported to Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and was booked on felony assault with a firearm.”
