Man arrested for fatal hit and run of Apple Valley teen

Apple ValleyChad Goodro, the suspect allegedly responsible for the October 19th fatal hit and run of 14-year-old Lawrence Andrews, was arrested on October 25th.

The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. on Ottawa Road in Apple Valley. Witnesses reported that the boy was walking south from James Woody Park when a vehicle going over 60 miles per hour struck him in the intersection and fled the scene.  Sadly, Andrews did not survive the collision; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ottawa Road was closed between Navajo Road and Manhasset Road for six hours as officers processed the scene and interviewed witnesses.  Investigators stated in the news release that suspect vehicle was was believed to be either a Nissan 350Z or an Infinity G35.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old Chad Goodro was identified as the suspect after someone gave an anonymous tip based off the vehicle description.

Goodro was arrested on October 25th and faces a charge of felony hit and run, causing death.  He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and has been released after posting a $50,000 bond.
