Transient man arrested for stabbing death of security guard at Anaheim strip mall

A transient man from Anaheim has been arrested for stabbing a security guard to death.

According to the release, “[M]ultiple callers reported that a man was being stabbed,” at a strip mall in the 1800 block of West Lincoln Avenue at about 10 p.m. on Friday, September 10th.  Anaheim police responded to the location  and caught suspect Andrew Isaiah Godinez, a 24-year-old transient from Anaheim, as he was departing from the scene.  He was arrested without incident.

The victim, 46-year-old Joseph Paul Gomez of Tustin, worked as a security guard at the strip mall.  He was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital after the tragic event.

The attack was “unprovoked,” according to the release.

“Detectives are seeking additional witnesses or people who may have had other contacts with Godinez. Anyone with information is asked to call the APD Homicide Detail at 714-321-3669.”
