ARCADIA – A high-noon search warrant was serviced on 09/16/2021 – the result of an investigation involving a report of a swim coach and his juvenile athlete. Arcadia Police Department had been contacted on September 7th by a representative of Max Aquatics.
“An inappropriate relationship” had reportedly taken place, said Detective Bureau Lieutenant Tom Cullen, at Max Aquatics – a private swim club that utilizes the pools in the cities of Arcadia, El Monte, and Monrovia. As a result, “Max Aquatics immediately suspended the coach, and his employment was subsequently terminated.”
Arcadia Police Detectives conducted an investigation regarding alleged unlawful sexual acts with a child, and obtained an arrest warrant for Marco Antonio Flores (25), from Arcadia. The search warrant was served at Flores’ residence – where the suspect “was arrested for violations of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, lewd and lascivious acts involving children, and other sex crimes,” said Detective Lt. Cullen.
While Flores is being held on $25,000 bail in the Arcadia Police Department Jail, Chief of Police Roy Nakamura has not only expressed serious concern, but also highlighted the detectives’ reason to believe that “there may be additional victims.” Chief Nakamura emphasized, “Marco Flores was a swim coach at Max Aquatics since 2017.”
