“On August 21, 2021, a Deputy was patrolling along Highway 88 in the Pioneer area when he observed a Chevrolet Silverado driving without fenders and/or flaps as required by section 27600 of the California Vehicle Code.
The Deputy subsequently conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 24000 block of Highway 88 and upon contacting the two occupants, determined that one occupant had two warrants for his arrest and the other occupant was on probation with a search clause.
During a search of the vehicle, the Deputy located a loaded Glock 43 handgun concealed in the glove box. Both subjects were arrested and booked into the Amador County Jail.
Michael Smith of Pioneer was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle as well his two warrants.
Branden Smith of Pioneer was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle with a prior felony conviction and being a felon in possession of ammunition.”
