“On 06/08/2021 at about 12:30 am, a witness called Palm Springs PD and said they saw a person attempt to hide a firearm in a vehicle that was parked in the 400 Block of E. Amado Road. Officers arrived, found the unoccupied vehicle, and saw a firearm inside.

Officers searched the area and located Juan Ibarra (05/14/1978, Male Resident of Desert Hot Springs) inside a nearby business. Ibarra was found to have two felony warrants for his arrest. Ibarra was arrested and, when searched by officers, was found to be in possession of 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Officers went back to the vehicle and recovered the firearm. A records check determined the firearm was reported stolen during a recent burglary in Palm Springs.

Ibarra was later transported to the Indio Jail and booked for PC 29800 (Felon in Possession of a Firearm), PC 25400 (Concealed Firearm in Vehicle), PC 25400 (Possession of Stolen Firearm), PC 25850 (Possession of Loaded Firearm in Public), HS 11370.1(a) (Possession of Firearm while possessing Methamphetamine).

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
