“Arrests made on hit and run that occurred on September 1, 2020 at 8th and L Street in Downtown Modesto leaving the victim, 42-year-old Patrick McHaley of Modesto with fatal injuries.
MPD featured the suspected vehicle from this incident in our #whosthatwednesday post this week. An alert citizen spotted the vehicle in the college area on Thursday afternoon and followed the vehicle to a residence in the Enslen area, then notified the police.
MPD’s Traffic Officers responded to the residence and were able to verify it was the vehicle involved in the collision.
During the investigation officers contacted the suspected driver of the truck, 67-year-old Paul Muratore. He was arrested and charged for vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, felon in possession of a firearm, drug charges and for a warrant. Also arrested as a result of this investigation was 61-year-old Lori Jardine. She was charged with aiding and abetting following the commission of a felony.
Traffic Investigator Raduechel is still searching for the driver of a silver 2006-2010 Dodge Charger. This driver observed the collision and followed Muratore as he fled the scene based on video surveillance MPD obtained. Investigator Raduechel would like to speak with the driver of this vehicle and can be contacted by email at raduechelr[AT]modestopd.com.
Investigator Raduechel has this reminder for everyone “As we enter the fall and winter months and the days get shorter please ensure your headlights and other vehicle lighting systems are in proper operating order. Replace your wiper blades in preparation for the rainy weather. These simple steps will help you see better during the darkness hours and protect you and others from being involved in a tragic incident like this one and please, do not leave the scene of an accident such as this.”
