Sonora Police arrest “No Trespassing” arson suspect

Sonora Police have arrested a man on suspicion of arson during a state of emergency.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 25, an officer on patrol noticed a fire coming from the fencing on the south side of Wright’s Tire Services, which turned out to be the result of someone setting the “No Trespassing” sign affixed to the fence on fire.

The officer managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread.

Additional officers searched the area and happened upon 39-year-old Tyler Schuster, who denied setting the fire yet appeared to behave suspiciously, police said.

Nonetheless, a lack of incriminating evidence prevented officers from making an arrest.

Things took a turn on Thursday, April 30, when investigating officers obtained surveillance footage from a nearby business that implicated Schuster as their primary suspect.

Schuster was taken into custody while he was at the Police Department for an unrelated matter and booked on suspicion of felony arson.
