SONORA — Police have arrested a man on suspicion of battery causing serious injury after he allegedly assaulted a friend for calling 911.

Officers responded to a local emergency room just after 4 AM on Tuesday, October 29, regarding a person being treated for an alleged battery.

The victim, a 30-year-old male, said that he’d been attacked around two hours earlier by 21-year-old Cole Cranstoun, who was reportedly upset that the victim had called 911 to help a friend in need of medical assistance, thus drawing police attention.

When officers met with Cranstoun at his residence, he was found to be in possession of a concealed fixed-blade knife.

He has since been booked for battery causing serious injury, intimidating and threatening a witness, and for being in possession of a dirk or dagger.
