Milpitas police arrest suspect who fatally stabbed victim

MILPITAS –  The Milpitas Police Department has announced an arrest in the stabbing death of a 54-year-old man that took place on the night of October 8, 2019.

According to Milpitas Police Lieutenant John Torrez, “On October 8, 2019, at 3:30 P.M., officers responded to the 100 block of North Temple Drive on the report of a stabbing that had just occurred.”

Milpitas Officers quickly responded to the scene with emergency crews and paramedics. Once arriving on the scene, they located the stabbing victim.  Witnesses nearby gave police the description and whereabouts of the alleged attacker.

Before the suspect could escape, police quickly located the him near the area of Del Vaile Court and North Hillview Drive in Milpitas.  The suspect, 22-year old Milpitas resident Jonathan Castellanos Herrera, was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for 187 PC – Homicide and 243(b) PC – Battery on an Emergency Medical Technician.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The brutality of the crime made it clear that the suspect intended to inflict great bodily harm on the victim and in doing so had taken his life.
