On August 20, 2019, a homeless woman was arrested in Whittier after stealing items from one person’s garage and entering another person’s home without permission.

The Whittier home is located in the 5600 block of Mesagrove Avenue. The home’s resident, who was not there at the time, noticed the transient woman via the video surveillance system. The resident alerted police at about 12:30 PM and reported that the woman had gone into the garage, taken several items, then hopped a fence into a neighbor’s backyard.

Finding that the neighbor’s home had an unlocked sliding glass door, the suspect entered the home, uninvited. “The neighbor, who was home at the time, was able to coax the suspect out of the house. Officers arrived on scene and quickly took the suspect into custody,” according to Whittier police.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Angelica Camerano of Whittier. Camerano was booked at Whittier City Jail with a bail set at $50,000 and a court appearance scheduled for the following morning.
