Traffic stop becomes 23 pound meth bust

EL CENTRO – Once again, a simple traffic stop has led to a significant arrest. On August 21st, an El Centro Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 Honda Civic.

The stop occurred around Dogwood and Main Streets. 29-year-old Vanessa D. Reyna-Galaviz was the driver of the Civic.

A search of the vehicle produced 23 pounds of methamphetamine, ” concealed in multiple packages and in multiple areas of the vehicle, including a child safety seat.”

Reyna-Galaviz was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail, and her car was towed away. Her bail was set at $500,000.
