A man was arrested near an Aliso Viejo retirement community on suspicion of burglary and intending to sexually assault an 84-year-old woman in her home.

A nurse at the retirement community, located near the 24000 block of Moulton Parkway, received a report about a resident in distress at about 4:20 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Both she and a security guard responded to the scene and there found an 84-year-woman in her bed, “partially disrobed,” according to the press release. There with her was a young man holding a pair of scissors.

As the man attempted to escape, he stabbed the nurse in the hand. She was treated for the wound at a local hospital and released.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded at about 4:30 AM. A man matching the suspect’s description was located after police searched the area near the retirement community. Police arrested the suspect and identified him as 20-year-old Jorge Hernandez Saucedo Jr. of Laguna Niguel.

He was booked into Orange County Jail. His bail has been set at $1 million.

“Because of the brazen nature of the crime, investigators believe the suspect may have a history of unreported criminal offenses,” stated the press release. Anyone with additional information pertaining to this case or this suspect is asked to contact Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Victim’s Detail at 714-647-7419, or submit an anonymous tip to OC Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org.
