Former ICSO Corporal charged with misappropriation of funds

INYO – In the past, Nick Vaughn served the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department as a Corporal, however on May 9th of 2019  he was arrested on charges of misappropriation of public funds.

Initially, the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department conducted an internal investigation, and then the case was handed off to the District Attorney’s office for a criminal investigation.

As a result of the investigations, Vaughn was arrested on suspicion of misappropriating over $10,000 that he “collected from participants in the Sheriff’s Department Work Release Program.”

The suspect is charged with diverting some of the collected fees for his “personal use or the use of other individuals.” Vaughn supervised the program from May 2014 until March 2018.

His bail was set at $15,000.

“The District Attorney reminds the public that a defendant in any criminal case is presumed to be innocent until the contrary is proved beyond a reasonable doubt.”
