Concerned citizens called Porterville Police to the area of Morton Avenue and Prospect Street on January 22nd.

According to the concerned citizens, a man and woman appeared to be arguing as they walked down Morton Avenue. Taking the brunt of the argument was the 4-month old baby whom they were handling roughly and, reportedly, swinging around.

When police contacted James Whittenberg and Savanah Wolf, both 32-years old out of Porterville, it was apparent they were deeply under the influence of a controlled substance.

Further investigation revealed them to be the parents of the baby, but as they posed a great danger to their child in their current state, Child Welfare Services were notified and the baby was transported to a local hospital for examination.

Whittenberg and Wolf were arrested and booked with bail set at $100,000 per parent.

Whittenberg’s record shows  five arrests in the past two years.
