MURRIETA – On June 2nd, 2018, a shallow grave was discovered in Joshua Tree. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department assisted in performing an autopsy of the remains buried there.

The dead man was identified as 54-year-old Henry Stange and it was determined that his death was a homicide.

Four days later, investigators searched Stange’s home, which resulted in “the discovery of a crime scene.”

The investigation proceeded and continued through the following weeks. Finally, on August 29th, 30-year-old Curtis Krueger and 27-year-old Ashlie Stapp were arrested in Twentynine Palms.

However, “Krueger and Stapp were subsequently released based on a decision to halt prosecution proceedings by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.”

After additional evidence was secured, the Riverside County DA’s Office “proceeded with filing charges of 187(a) PC Murder against Curtis Krueger.”

Krueger was booked on December 13th for murder.
