HOLLISTER – HPD responded to a domestic violence call that led to a vehicle pursuit. On July 16 officers arrived at the 500 block of Santa Ana Road.

The caller who witnessed the incident said that the suspect tried to run someone over.  Officers found the female victim and talked with her.

Then they began looking for 23-year-old Austin Nye. Around 1:30 a.m. officers located Nye in his red Jeep in Main Alley.  However, the suspect made a u-turn and drove away.

The pursuit achieved high rates of speed for about one and a half miles.  Nye stopped, jumped out and fled on foot into a residential neighborhood in the 100 block of McCarthy Avenue.

Officers and deputies set up the well-known perimeter.  As they searched yard by yard, Nye jumped fences.

The excitement ended with the suspect’s arrest at Maple Street and San Juan Drive.

The numerous charges against Nye include –

  • assault with a deadly weapon;
  • resisting;
  • delaying an obstructing an officer;
  • assault on a police officer;
