Claremont Police Commissioner Edgar Reece has announced the arrest of Ontario murder suspect Jonathan Rodriguez (23) of Ontario, during a bicycle traffic stop on February 7th. A vehicle code violation led to a revealing conversation about an argument and stabbing.

The suspect divulged that all of this took place at his mother’s apartment in Ontario.

When follow-up presented Ontario’s active homicide investigation on this murder suspect, Ontario PD responded and took custody of the man who’d stabbed Bernardo Vazquez (25) of Rialto numerous times before fleeing the scene earlier that night.

Ontario officers had arrived on a stabbing call at 5:52 on Feb. 7th to the 900 block of E. Deodar Street. The victim with multiple stab wounds died at a nearby hospital. Witnesses alerted the officers that the murder suspect was a family member who’d fled.

Ontario PD stated that the suspect-in-custody Rodriguez was “later booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He is being held on murder charges with no bail.”

They announced, “Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Ontario Police Department at 909-986-6711, or Detective Brant Devey at (909) 395-2715 or Detective Nic Hitter at (909) 395-2704.”
