MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect near El Camino Real who had allegedly stolen the vehicle he was driving.

On January 3, the owner of a stolen Land Rover saw it being driven nearby. According to MPD, “Around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, January 3, our dispatch center received a call from a Mountain View resident who stated he had spotted his stolen Land Rover Discovery drive past him on El Camino Real near The Americana Way.”

Once Mountain View Police had located the vehicle near the intersection of 237 and El Camino, a felony stop was initiated to help safely secure the suspect and the vehicle into their custody.  The owner of the vehicle had reported having their Land Rover stolen in early December of 2017.

According to MPD, “33-year-old Joon Kim was arrested for possession of stolen property, vehicle theft, and parole violation.” Kim was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail following his arrest.
