Transient Trio Sentenced for Mobile Phone Store Robberies

LOS ANGELES — They were homeless and brandished a BB gun, but the trio robbed a dozen mobile phone stores throughout the area in July and August of 2016.

On Tuesday, they were sentenced for their crimes.  52-year-old Renell Samuel Collins pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree robbery.  He had four felony convictions prior to this sentencing.

49-year-old Dexter Powell and 46-year-old Stephen Wayne Rogers both also pled no contest to the same charges.  The trio are homeless no longer.  Collins will serve 10 years in prison and Powell and Rogers will serve two years.

The total take from these crimes was hundreds of dollars ans cell phones.
