SANTA ROSA // On October 25th just before midnight, two officers were passing through the area of College and Cleveland Avenues when they saw a Honda speed through a red light.

The officers flipped on their lights and tried to catch the vehicle, but it kept speeding and turned south onto Dutton Avenue, then west onto Eight.

That was when officers caught up to the vehicle. While it was still moving, both front doors opened and the driver and passenger jumped out, attempting to flee on foot. The vehicle rolled forward and struck a telephone pole near Link Lane.

The passenger was apprehended fairly quickly — he tripped and fell after jumping from the car. Additional responding officers set up a perimeter to search for the driver, but were unable to find him.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a “small caliber handgun in the passenger compartment,” as well as “three loaded magazines for the handgun” and “a large amount of marijuana.”

The passenger, 23-year-old Ryan Frazer, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges of obstruction, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a missing person, and possession of a firearm by a person under a restraining order.

The investigation is ongoing.
