Police Identify Suspect in Placerville Homicide

PLACERVILLE — The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department has announced that 24-year-old Bernardo Castillo has been identified as the primary suspect in a recent homicide.

At 5:15 AM yesterday, June 13th, deputies responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Newtown Road after reports of a stabbing. There they found an adult woman dead and a child suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The child was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical attention. Thus far, his/her current condition is unknown.

Deputies are now on the lookout for Castillo, as well as a 2002 white Ford Explorer (CA license plate #4XTF911) which may be connected to the incident.

Castillo himself is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 190 pounds.
