EAST LOS ANGELES – Authorities nabbed a 29-year-old man who was under the influence after he approached a taco truck, randomly grabbed a female customer from behind, dragged her away and slashed her several times in front of horrified witnesses. When asked what led to this, the man explained he had been taking meth all day.
The woman was standing in line for tacos with her mother near Whittier Boulevard and Clela Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, September 7 when a man grabbed her from behind and held an arm around her waist, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s East Los Angeles station. The attacker dragged her away from the truck and said, “We’re both going to die today.”
Multiple witnesses saw him brandish a flip knife. As the “tweaker” attempted to stab her in the neck, the hands she raised to protect herself were stabbed repeatedly.
A witness jumped out of a car with a crowbar to scare off the attacker and was cut across the chest.
As the slashing resumed, the assailant aimed for the woman’s stomach, and stabbed her upraised hands multiple times.
Area deputies arrived on-scene to stop the attack and took the suspect into custody. Medics transported him to the hospital for observation. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition to be treated for her wounds.
The stabber is facing possible charges of attempted murder and attempted kidnapping.
