SANTA ROSA – According to a Community Bulletin released by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies from the Windsor Police Department (WPD) apprehended a wanted felon shortly before 10 A.M. on Monday morning, February 22nd.

WPD was contacted by employees at the Hampton Inn who reported that a suspected fraudulent card was used to rent two rooms there. The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Paul Rasco, who was wanted for two felony warrants for assault out of Texas. Houston Police Department also confirmed that Rasco was a “Most Wanted” gang member out of their jurisdiction.

11 law officers from the WPD, SCSO, and a K9 team joined forces to set up a perimeter around the hotel on Brooks Road South.

Deputies ensured that the rooms on either side of the target room were first unoccupied. A phone call was then placed into Rasco’s room. He stepped out of the room and surrendered to WPD without incident. He taken into custody and booked into Sonoma County jail.

A second person identified as Eli Bratt was also detained in association with Rasco.

Deputies had also found equipment and materials to counterfeit checks and make fake credit cards in the rooms. Business in the hotel continued uninterrupted while the event unfolded. The Hampton Inn management and staff were completely cooperative and the law enforcement agencies involved expressed their gratitude to them for the successful outcome.

Both men remain in custody. Rasco awaits extradition to Texas to face charges.
