Long Beach Man Connected with Two Armed Robberies Arrested

A man has been accused of being connected to two armed robberies that occurred on Saturday, August 15th and Monday, August 24th.

On August 15th at around 4:30 a.m., Long Beach Police were called to investigate a robbery that had occurred in the area of 10th Street and Redondo Avenue.

According to the report, the female victim was held at gunpoint and the suspect demanded she give up her property or get shot. In fear for her life, the victim agreed to follow the suspect’s orders and handed over her belongings. The suspect then fled and the victim was unharmed.

Subsequently, a little over a week later, Long Beach police were called to investigate another robbery that happened near the same location.

On August 24th at 12:30 a.m., officers investigated a reported robbery that occurred  in the 1000 block of Redondo Avenue. During the investigation, they discovered that another female victim had been held at gunpoint. The suspect reportedly directed the victim to a dark alley, where he not only demanded her to give up her property, but he also told her to undress in front of him. Sometime during the incident, the suspect got startled by something and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.

the investigation into both incidents continued, and patrol officers found a witness who was able to give them a possible identity of the suspect. Working with the detectives, on Thursday, September 3rd, they were able to locate the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Chiffonce Dion Pace. A search warrant was executed and they discovered evidence that was related to the robberies. Pace resides less than a mile from the location of the robberies.

Chiffonce Pace was arrested without incident. The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review, authorities stated. On September 8th, Pace was charged with kidnapping to commit rape, robbery, and with failure to appear in court on a previous charge. He is currently being held in lieu of a $1,000,000 bail.

Pace has a history with the law in Long Beach. Available records show he was arrested in February 2009 for forgery, and failing to appear in court on a previous charge. The next month he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. In February 2010 he was charged with possession of marijuana for sale, and again, failing to appear in court. He faced another marijuana sales charge in April of 2011.

Pace was accused of domestic violence in 2011, when he was arrested on July 1 for battery on a spouse, former spouse, or co-habitant. Records show he has lived in various Long Beach apartments during that time.
