CHP Arrest 21 Over the Weekend, 4 are Habitual DUI Offenders

SANTA ROSA – The Santa Rosa Area California Highway Patrol rounded up 21 people over the weekend for various traffic related violations. Four of the arrests involved habitual DUI offenders.

On Saturday evening at about 8 pm, an officer in the vicinity of Lakeville Highway and Old Lakeville #2 saw a Chevrolet heading southbound at a high rate of speed. The officer clocked the vehicle at 77 mph in a 55 mph zone and soon thereafter made an enforcement stop. The driver was found to have a suspended license since 2010. The officer noticed signs of intoxication as well as an opened bottle of whiskey on the back seat. The officer arrested the driver after a DUI investigation. The driver was identified as 28-year old Derek Krutsinger of Stockton. Krutsinger also had other warrants out for his arrest and multiple convictions, including a DUI and driving on a suspended license. He was booked and charged with DUI and driving while under suspension.

Shortly after 1 am Sunday, officers on patrol in the vicinity of Stony Point Road and Todd Road saw an Acura SUV ahead of them that was repeatedly applying brakes while weaving in the roadway. After the enforcement stop the officers noted a strong smell of marijuana. The driver was also unable to provide any identification or vehicle information. He also displayed signs of impairment, and subsequently failed a roadside sobriety test. The driver was arrested for DUI and his vehicle was impounded. He was identified as 29-year-old Reynaldo Robles-Baez of Santa Rosa. Robles-Baez had a suspended driver’s license related to two prior DUI convictions.

Shortly before 5 pm on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a reckless driver on southbound Highway 101 south of Geyserville. An officer entering the freeway at Lytton Springs Road saw the Chevrolet Impala pass by him at a high rate of speed. He confirmed the speed at 86 mph, and made an enforcement stop just south of Healdsburg. The driver showed signs of intoxication, so the officer began a DUI evaluation. The driver was found to be 3 times over the legal limit and was booked on charges of DUI, driving while suspended, and violation of probation. The driver was identified as 47-year-old Karen Marquez of Kelseyville. Marquez was found to have had 8 prior suspensions and was on probation for 2 previous DUI convictions.

Antonio Nunez was found at Rohnert Park Expressway and Commerce after being spotted by an off duty officer.

And at approximately 5 pm Sunday, a passing motorist flagged down A CHP officer on Rohnert Park Expressway. The motorist identified himself as an off-duty San Francisco police officer. He stated that he had seen a Toyota Camry that had been speeding, weaving and almost causing several collisions. The CHP officer shortly found the vehicle at Commerce Boulevard. He made an enforcement stop and contacted the driver and noticed signs of intoxication. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was booked on charges of DUI and driving while suspended. The driver was identified as 41-year-old Antonio Nunez of Cotati. Nunez has had a suspended license since 2006 and has 2 prior DUI convictions.
